SHOCK WEEK • Progressive Load Training

Here's a move for building explosive strength with heavy weight when you don't have a spotter. Give it a shot, it's a different kind of feeling and it definitely shocked my chest. Sometimes we feel like moving heavy weights. It provides a sense of accomplishment, a milestone, a concrete goal, clear evidence of your pecking order in the gym. And there's no question that heavy weights are needed to gain mass. But it's important to remember that your muscle is oblivious to pecking order, it doesn't care what number is engraved on the dumbells. Champions know that training hard is not always a story that can be told in numbers. It's all about how your muscle feels, and I can tell you, when it comes to the 25lb progressive load dumbell presses I do in this video – I'm feeling it. Use the band and you can go with much heavier weight without a spotter, build explosive strength and shock the muscle in a new way, which is what this week is all about. I'll have a more complete workout posted up next. Kevin [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vb3-du6I_LA]

UGH????………is it just me, but it seems like it would be a little difficult to get set up and do without a spotter. I saw Jay Cutler do something similar with 2 bands tied to a flat bench while he was using a regular straight bar. I tried that and it felt great.
    Kevin…….looking great baby!!!
    RH………out!

  2. @Rick H
Not that hard, these were 25 lbs. You just grab the dumbells while holding the band. It was a luxury to have them handed to me but not necessary. Also, sometimes you’re in a situation when you don’t have a strong enough spotter, I encountered this during the quest for 405 lbs bench. A few times there was nobody in the gym experienced or strong enough to spot me, but I needed to get my heavy reps in. The band is one alternative when you’re facing these situations, and if you need a spotter, finding someone to put a 25 lb weight in your hand shouldn’t be too hard.

  3. UK Stu says:

Another great idea loving the shock treatment, I’m entering my first show in 15 years beacause of the Levrone report so thanks mate for the inspirational boost! Have put on 10 pounds in 6 months using your methods, thanks again Big K.
    UK Stu out!

  4. david penwell says:

i usually do that with pushups with the bands over my back so as i go up its harder so this does work good. the only thing i didnt like was the fact that he said coach dan out haha…what gives him the damn right haha

  5. Rick H says:

thanks Kevin………i see your point. Guess i forgot you were only using 25 lb dumbells.

    RH………out!

  6. Alejadro says:

    this guys is funny LOL!

  7. Matt Los Angeles says:

good stuff, maybe I’ll try this sometime.

  8. KevinZ says:

Doesn’t he ever need to wash that trainings suit:P

But why would I want to feel those things like if they were 50′s if I can also get 50′s.

    Don’t see the use yet..

  9. mark UK says:

    LOL’D at Kevin’s face at the end!hahaha

  10. david penwell says:

@kevinZ…i think that was just an example haha you are allowed to use heavier weights.. the whole point was progressive overload. thats mean during the course of a rep the weight gradually gets heavier at the top to push past sticking points. the whole goal was to make it feel heavier on days you arent able to go as heavy due to not having a spotter, not heavy heavy dumbbells or just want to give the joints a little bit of rest from slinging the real heavy weights around.

  11. Chris says:

Now what are these band names if i were to pick up one in a general fitness store?

  12. david penwell says:

@chris- just use those yoga stretching bands they have at walmart. as i noticed in the video coach was pulling down on the bands but you could probably just double up on the bands to increase tension. probably wont be able to go very heavy on the dumbbells that was but again i guess thats the point to make it feel heavier. this also works very well on barbell curls just standing on the bands. you could pretty much do this for most exercises. and when you can no longer rep out with the bands just continue with the dumbbells or barbell and not the bands.

  13. mik says:

I’ll definitely try this one… not for pecs though… for shoulders..
like, the band and some dumbbells on side laterals. hope i can get strong quicker.

BTW, Kevin, i think that when you were competing you trained pretty orthodoxly, without these new methods from coach… Do you think it could have made a difference if you have added his methods?

  14. livetotrain says:

@everyone…I have been following all of your comments and advice and most of you are very inspirational..@norweigian..Dude,you are hilarious and informative..@Kevin..Great site man and i hope you keep it up..You are right that we are all bodybuilders and we do have a voice because of this blog..@Rick H..hey man i think you seriously need to stop kissing Kevin’s ass..maybe you should try the exercise Kevin is suggesting before you knock them…

  15. aeRoNz says:

Hmm norwegian did not post yet? WTF… Impossible

  16. Rick H says:

@ liveto train………i dont kiss anyones ass. How am i kissing his ass if i dissagree with the exercise. Your an idiot!…

  17. Michel R says:

Kev, if you EVER want us to take Cooch, euh I mean Coach, serious NEVER EVER take on a facial expression like the one in the closing sequence again… Hilarious… Next vid with Coach in it, you should have him train Bonefish… Now that would really hit the jackpot humorwise that is hehe….

On a serious note… Coach makes alot of sense but in this fitness/bodybuilding business you cannot sell stuff to someone when you don’t look the part. I see what he sells and I would be more than obliged to buy, if he would at least look like someone who trains, apart from the astrayed skierlook he’s currently sporting.

    Anyway entertaining vid… :-)

  18. Rick H says:

    @ Michel R……..agree with you 100%.

  19. Eric says:

    Hehe…like condoms.

  20. Eric says:

One for sure. We can’t complain kev not to be open minded.

  21. Jovan Nikolic says:

@Michel R – I used to think like that earlier. Although, every time I find out someone is rational and what he is talking is related to bodybuilding (and that is very rare, lately…), I am listening (not automatically doing it). Coach, maybe, doesn’t want to look like Kevin, you or myself. Maybe he isn’t interested in building bigger muscles or lifting heavier weights.

This is important to me, and I will speak it publicly: I found out that I need to change things only when I hit some plateau. To find out if you had hit it – you need to know and listen your body and muscles. Only than, I will incorporate “new”, “shocking” routines that will (maybe) up my ante.

Most of the people who are training without steroids, naturally, like me and many of us here needs a LOT of work to hit that plateau. Only when you know you’ve done everything in field of nutrition, training, intensity (especially here, many people think they train very intense, yet training like girls), rest, sleep hygiene, exercises form, supplements (I think that supplements can give that “extra” if you use them continually). Only when you reevaluated that you are doing BASICS properly – you can do “shock” methods.

  22. DA PUERTO RICAN says:

Kevin was a riot at the end. This is some good info . Thanks Kevin. Hey tell the coach to make sure he washes his clothes. He always is wearing the same gear. Thats whats up.

  23. Phil says:

    Pause at 2:37……L M A O!!!!!

I’m sorry but I dont see how this benefits.. If it felt like 50lbs why not just use 50lbs. I may have missed the point in the video but I find it hard to keep up with what coach is saying sometimes.

  24. irons says:

LOL Kevins face at the end of video, Coach pretty cool guy. I would almost never suggest someone waste money on trainers, but If coach lived around me, I would defiantly let people know about people. very few trainers know what they are doing. Sure they know basic workouts and lame stability crap, but that’s about it. Watch Coach needs to stop doing is dressing like he is going for a 5 am run.

    Bands Vs Chains
Bands with provide a non- uniform resistance. The more you stretch it, the harder it is to stretch one more inch.
Chains provide a uniform increase in resistance. You at every point of the lift lifting it one inch will provide the same added resistance.

Both great tools, OFTEN used by powerlifters.

  25. Danny-Northern Ireland says:

Haha Kevs face at the end lol pure quality I burst out laughing : ) props to coach for some more good info I tried this and it worked pretty well haha I felt the burn!

  26. david penwell says:

for the guys that dont understand the point of lifting lighter when you can lift heavier. say you can lift 50lb dumbbells but one day you feel a little off and ont have a spotter. you grab a lighter pair of dumbbells and use the bands to the make lighter dumbbells feel heavier with the added band resistence. the first point is safety. on a off day would you rather lift lighter weights and see the same benefits of the heavier weights or lift the heavier weights with a chance of injury? second.. its about increasing the resistance as the movement progresses which in turn will help blast past the low-mid range sticking point that most of us have by the lower portion being a little lighter and getting a higher weight contraction right past our sticking point. you dont have to really keep up with what coach is saying because the point of the bands and the movement were explained in the words at the top in the text format. coach said pretty much the exact same thing only showed you the form that they were referring to and how it can play over into real training. i am no pro bodybuilder but it seems like some of you guys talk a lot about the bodybuilding game but dont know a lot about the actual training portion of it. im not knocking on anybody im just saying its ok to not know everything and just take advice as it comes.

  27. david penwell says:

i think its funny that kevin wears his own shirt during training haha… i would love to workout with a shirt that has my face and name on it all the time

  28. Coach Chuck says:

    David great post!
Before you judge the coach on how he looks physically learn about the mans past. Joe paterno never looked that imposing even in his playing days, but his knowledge and wisdom left a mark on players. By the way i have seen pictures of the coach when he was training heavy and he would be the envy of most gyms.

  29. marty says:

LOL,my chest isnt bruising so hope in three weeks I can start light on chest again.Coach you look shredded wy are you hiding under that sweat shirt!

  30. Matt Los Angeles says:

Now that I’ve read some of the comments, I had to go back and watch the video again. Yeah the end was funny with Kevins reaction. Holla!

  31. Jack says:

Good tips, something new to test out. Is it that cold out in LA? Coach is always wearing that Raiders winter hat indoors! This is how they train up in Iceland when the heater breaks down.

  32. Norweigian says:

O man, the return of Freddie Kruger…i was really shocked, what the fool is this? I know how coach feels but now we are supposed to up the weigths with some stretchropes too? 90% of common gymrats do the straigth benchpress totally wrong even when helped by certified fitness instructors. And now were supposed to hit the muscle-mind-flows with yellow plastic bands wrapped around arms and bench too. Its more easy to get a date with Paris Hilton , i guess.
I have been working alone in my homegym the last two years and its totally ok. U just cheat the last one or two reps up and like this u will be able to go all the way.
Like, you do 10 perfect reps for bench. Each rep hit the pecfibers real good. Then u feel it will be impossible to do 11 or 12 reps. But stil you feel a good fire in this workout and you really wanna go beond limit. Well, just do some bottombumping, involve more tris and shoulder during last two reps and your goal of a non-coachyway workout will be set.

  33. Michel R says:

Well, with my covered up look in the gym I look more like Coach than an actually bodybuilder. I’m a skinnier dude as well and it’s hard for me to put on serious size, but the whole Coach look and the information he hands out, doesn’t seem to connect at all… The main impression I get is that he’s a knowledgeable guy but he gets his experience from books and reading up, not so much applying them on himself. Is it necessary to apply fitness/bodybuilding knowledge on yourself in order to be an instructor? Hell no, but let me say this…. If you go to two doctors for a small operation. Which one would you take? The one who just left school with fantastic theoretical knowledge and a very good theory on how to proceed or would you take the other one who’s less theoretical but has a trackrecord of hundreds of patients? I know which one I would pick… And Kevin’s facial expression in the end, well… Sometimes you don’t need words to get a message across… Don’t think he’s smiling with the toughness of the workout, hehe…

Hey I like Cooch, I mean Coach… He brings interesting info to the table, but I cant take the guy’s attitude serious really… He’s for training what fingerman was for dieting… A ‘different’ approach and I’ll leave it at that :P

  34. Raphael says:

Wow it seems that everyone is getting at coach.. Just because the coach might not look big doesn’t mean he don’t have the information to make someone else physically better..

  35. chris says:

@ chris original handle chris, lol.

@ Kevin Levrone, Whats the point of being able to have to have more than one poster with the same name?

  36. chris says:

@Michel R, Being someone who has been 30lbs heavier but only at 209 now you may make the same assumption on me as you just did coach, doesn’t mean anything about coach as we do not know his goals and hence reasons for appearance. Though I can save time training at the gym 95% of the time I choose to train at home alone, have done for many many years now cus I only train for me and nothing else, though its obvious I train if in a vest in clothes its often different does that mean I do not know my s**t? Coach knows his stuff thats apparent and if someone wants to disgard it thats fine but I wonder how much more information they disgard simply on assumption!

  37. mark UK says:

Sorry i missed something! if you need a spotter for dumbells then fuckin quit now! thats the advantage of dumbells isnt it!

  38. Alexandar says:

    Kev :)
your face, at the end = sheer confusion :)

  39. david penwell says:

@mark UK- the point of dumbbells is greater range of motion for greater perctoral stimulation. dumbbells arent a replacement for barbell training because chances are nobody can go near as heavy with dumbbells as they can with barbells. its about variety with dumbbells.
@norwegian- for years powerlifters and professional athletes have used bands in their training. iti s a proven technique that has shattered world records. and seriously…do you think coach is the only person showing this technique? im pretty sure hundreds of bodybuilders use this not just kevin. you just dont seem to get it do you? these guys are literally professionals at what they do. they know more about this than you do and they are sharing information to help you. if you dont want to fuckin use is then dont use it man. why even comment on it you have no plans to use it because it is of no help to the people who are here to learn these new things. you slamming every single damn idea that comes through here is pointless. you said you were done posting with this coach shit and you come back the very next video and slam it again. i dont mind if you post its not up to me im not the moderator but if you really want to help someone try posting something that is actually going to help. you didnt prove any point against the bands not being great for training. try coming back and posting something that proves they suck or are dangerous or whatever and maybe we will read into it.

  40. Michel R says:

Dudes, learn to read and understand my replies before shooting me down. Like I said what Coach says is valuable and usable without any doubt. I just made the statement that if you look the way he does, some folks (including me) have a real hard time believing that he actually trains (at all) and applies on himself what he preaches. Now I’ve been in the gym for almost twenty years and I’ve read and educated myself, but I also applied that stuff to myself before handing this kind of information to whomever asks me a question in the gym. If a guy walks up to me and says: ‘Hey, you need to train your legs like this in order to build some mass or whatever’, the first thing I do is check HIS legs to see if he knows his stuff or if he’s potentially sharing information he found somewhere and is trying to sell to me without any proof. Nothing wrong with that, but quite francly I don’t buy it then.

In my twenty years in the gym I evolved into an autodidact myself and really tend to listen better to folks who can show me results what they’re selling and not to those who try to sell me what I could potentially show them, if you get me…

@Chris: In the gym I never make any assumptions on anyone, since everybody has their different set of goals, transformations and genetic setup. I don’t like it when folks walk up to me and start giving me (unwanted and without asking) tips when they look like they better use those on themselves… That’s my point, bro…
And you’re correct with not judging a book by its cover… No argument there…. But the WTF-factor with this guy is big… Just watch Kev’s reaction at the end of the vid… Great entertainment, indeed :) It was hopefully intended that way or otherwise it’s even more hilarious h ehehe…

  41. Medic-Pedro says:

Ah guys… This fella gets right on my tits. That shit looks quite dangerous and as you can see kevin struggles at first to keep a straight line. Shame, this site just took a real turn for me.
    Ped

  42. Spacemarine says:

Yeah funny facial expression at the end…Kevin was like:”Dudes, it was coach´s idea!!” :D

  43. Chris says:

    @ Michel R, Fair dues.

  44. Jovan Nikolic says:

@Michel R – The biggest problem is I don’t even listen people. At this level of muscle mass, the only thing that will help me to improve would be steroids. I don’t know anyone who is bigger and stronger with my proportions, naturally. Plateau are something else. This technique will not help Kevin be bigger, fuller, more cut. It has meaning for powerlifters (I saw bends only on flat bench and squat, not dumbbell preses).

So, I guess the source of dissatisfaction on this blog comes, I’m reading, from non-bodybuilding approach. I guess people are interested to see serious gym workout by ex-bodybuilding professional, not techniques already known.

Maybe it is coach, or promotion of coach ideas… I mean, people like coach, Finger Man (man, that guy is totally fired up, it is obvious he is insane), they bring nothing interesting. Maybe Kevin is kidding around with those guys… It has nothing to do with open-minded attitudes and such.

  45. Observe yourself and how you respond to this video, it is a good litmus test for where you are on your path to becoming a champion.

Here’s how a champion might respond to these videos: 1.) Watch with heightened attention and reserved judgment; 2.) Experiment with the moves with 100% effort 3.) Observe the outcome and learn from it. 4.) Show gratitude and respect for people who contribute new ideas with good intentions.

A champion’s mental power is rarely squandered on peripherals like style of dress or wrapped up in irrelevant judgement of others. Judgement is the path of mediocrity and an indulgence you can’t afford if you’re serious about joining the ranks of the Outstanding, where I know you will eventually take your rightful place.

Recognize that it is not just the exercise featured, but the video itself, that puts you to the test, and puts demands not just on your muscles, but on your character, and both require good form.

  46. Michel R says:

Well Jovan, I tend to agree with your last paragraph, bro. This is entertaining, but I don’t want to put the info Coach delivers completely aside. For instance I liked the core-exercises. I’m not applying them, but I found that info very interesting.

Kevin is not the kind of person to kid around with people, I’m sure of that. I know he is giving us a very wide and divers range of information. Some of it is for mass-bodybuilding, some is on how to get ripped and other info is to increase your aerobic ability. I haven’t met one single item that I couldn’t use in one way or another or better yet at one time in my gym-life. It all depends on where we stand and in what particular phase we’re in. I’m currently trying to cut up and maintain as much as I can in the process, while others are trying to gain (quality)mass, like yaself. So some of the info might be usable for me and useless for someone else at the same time. A few months later it might be the other way around, since the goals/transformation changes and the setup/needed info follows along. Then the info is still here and you can look back and use what you like/need…

So I’m still quite happy and satisfied with the blog, no doubt about that. But I also feel the need to express my impression on the phenomenon Coach. I take his info serious, but I just can’t take the dude’s attitude serious. Am I the only one who finds these vids hilarious in that sense?

In the end the blog needs to expand beyond just bodybuilding. There are only so many legpress/benchpress exercises you can show… We need diversification… The blog still delivers, thus remains alive and kicking…

  47. Joe says:

@Kevin: you said: “Recognize that it is not just the exercise featured, but the video itself, that puts you to the test, and puts demands not just on your muscles, but on your character, and both require good form.”…….with those words it almost sounds like you admit that the exercise in the video is more or less pointless, but despite that, we should still show respect….

i don’t know man. i will be totally honest, and i actually have a hard time taking many of the coach’ approaches seriously.

but anyway; i think evrybody in here would be very interested in knowing coach’ background, and how he trains himself, what goals he’s got with his own training, etc..would probably lead to the guys being able to take future posts with Coach more seriously……just a suggestion…..

  48. Richard - Jamaica says:

Now the apperance thing is a none issue.. Jamaica has the fastest men and women in the world and their coaches are obeese ….
On another issue though i wouldnt try it as it seems to pull the arms bac and my shoulders are fragile.

Very few people will think outside the box. That is the reason why u will find very few champions n very few leaders. Alot of people will cringe when they are taken out of their comfort zone or they will stick with wut they know and block out every other idea thats sabatoges their mode of thinking. I salute both Coach Dan and Levrone for bringing all of these different ideas to the blog. Keep em coming fellas…u got my full respect…I’m Raul Cruz

  50. Jovan Nikolic says:

For professional bodybuilders – everything they done gets rewarded. Sounds simple? They take steroids. Even if they win the competition – they are bodybuilders with “big muscles”. They look like they want, and steroids gave them that look.

It isn’t questioned that this blog is giving inspiration. Even to me, and I am standing where there is no miracles anymore. Only decision if I will continue to battle naturally or with doping. Most of the guys here didn’t touched their plateau yet and all they need is Continuity. Yes, that is all. It may sound simple – but it is true. In a dialogue with Ervin Katona (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ervin_Katona) he said: “You would be amazed how many people I met having no MENTAL capacity to move big weights. Yet, they are all the time trying to invent new approaches instead of doing basics until reaching plateau”.

I agree with him. I mean, bands are great for boosting your bench press and squat, but not something spectacular needed in bodybuilding. Also, weights are very important, but not necessarily. There are many regularly strong guys with great pecs, while some of very strong guys rockin’ average pecs. I mean, Dennis Wolf

I don’t know why is such a talk about “true” champions and such. These videos with coach have nothing to do with champion approach and improving. They are funny, though.

I just think that Kevin is having great time with coach. :D

  51. Jovan Nikolic says:

Also, I like core exercises and doing them every 3rd day (when it is day off in the gym). I am feeling that my body is more stable from doing them.

  52. Danny-Northern Ireland says:

@Jovan , yo how old are you btw I agree with what your saying . @Raul Cruz , I’m with you 100% ! Also I can’t believe some people diss the coach on what he is wearing, he is a great guy for helping out with the blog ! Peace

  53. mark UK says:

Kevin’s a smart guy! and the way you keep pulling this mental stuff! with your responses to negativity is also very smart. I bet Kevin was like Arnold with that ability to fuck his opponents up mentally if he tried to!

  54. David Penwell says:

Im confused what everybody is expecting from all of this. Kevin isnt going to train to step on teh pro bodybuilding stage and show us step by step what he does. I know thats what most of you want so you can follow it exactly in hopes we can all build that muscle and step up on the pro stage to but im pretty sure its not going to happen this way. What else does he have to say to get you to believe he isnt training for a show but to live a healthy life with a nice strong body? This is about his personal goals with new and old things he has done over his past career to help him better himself. He is showing us things he is doing and things he has done. It doesnt matter if you want to do it or not because this a personal training blog its a personal transformation blog. If you guys wanted personal training you show have submitted a video and entered the contest to win the training with kevin. Just watch the damn videos and do the exercises or dont do them. How are you ever going to know if this stuff really works if it gets shot down without a second thought. I guess i just dont understand what the mindset is here. He has stated several times this isnt a contest prep or anything its his life now and he wants to be fit and in shape to do things that make him happy instead of being 250+lbs and no being able to tie his shoes.

  55. Jovan Nikolic says:

    @Danny-Northern Ireland – Thanks. I am 28 years old.

@David Penwell – I don’t expect anything. I just comment every video with my interests and opinions.

  56. david penwell says:

@jovan- i am more referring to the ones that come back with their first comment being this is useless and dangerous and it will never benefit anyone because i know it all and the professional bodybuilder doesnt know anything even though he has been in the top olympia many years and won about every major show around guys haha

  57. Rishi says:

It seems a few are failing to realize that this just isn’t about bodybuilding and getting huge but actually appreciating the info @ hand w/ an open mind, trying it out and putting it in the arsenal. This blog is about so much more than many may think. Also if your looking at the facial expressions, your not focusing on the task at hand. We should all at the very least show some respect & take away the positive info to apply and help others with it as best we can, no matter what they look like or have on as for attire. This is a mental game as well and the focus should be right on all aspects to be that of a champion which I feel is a test of character, a set or collection of personal qualities. Champions succed where so many others give up…bottom line. I remember a saying that stuck with me…some wish it would happen, some hope it would happen, and some make it happen. Lets all make it happen. Lets visualize…You are not what you think you are, but what you think, you Are :) Thanks for the video. Peace & God bless.

  58. Jovan Nikolic says:

Yes, most of us expecting bodybuilding here. For instance, I am studying Sociology. No matter I do all those related things to bodybuilding (I mean, I am not pro and I am not giving all of my money on bodybuilding, it costs a lot, but I am not into it like pro) – it isn’t my job.

Kevin is/was bodybuilder and we are all here because of bodybuilding. Everyone here have a life and professional interests in other areas. There is no need for mystifying something that is very rational – bodybuilding knowledge. Also, it would be ignorant to expect that Kevin will share his knowledge learned during years of competing for free.

For instance, Kevin said he doesn’t take protein powder, yet I am not believing that he is eating meals only shown on this blog (during first transformation). It doesn’t mean he isn’t honest or open to us, just not telling everything. You can’t have 100kg of pure muscles naturally with eating 700-800gr. of meat per day.

I remember meals during mass transformation, I never saw someone eating such a small amount of food yet having 110kg (Kevin’s weight after mass trans.) Also, you can have massive and developed legs with doing coach’s trainings or that dumbbell press with band. It isn’t serious at all. It can’t stimulate his muscles. C’mon, he did 3 reps with 405. :)

So, Rishi, you’re right. There is much more behind these blog posts. ;)

  61. Thanks for everyone’s support and wise words, it’s very inspiring. Whether you agree with everything all the time is not the point, I’m very grateful you’re all here – it’s not community if there’s no dissenting opinions.

    @Jovan
I did take whey protein during the mass transformation and I said so several times. I do this blog for the joy of being truthful and real, and I’m happy to give it away free.

    @everyone
My experience of bodybuilding is a.) it’s not as complicated, physically speaking, as some people want to believe it is, b.) it’s very complicated mentally, not merely a science and therefore not wholly rational, c.) at its best it’s a journey, a path, a way of life that puts value not just on how you look but how you feel.

What made me a Hall-Of-Fame athlete had much more to do with what’s in my heart than the scientific geometry of my lifts, calories in, etc. That stuff’s essential, too, but it’s only half the equation, and will only result in half a bodybuilder. If I have learned anything from you guys, it’s that we at LevroneReport.com are not interested in doing things half way.

  64. david penwell says:

@jovan…. do you really think kevin uses the 25lbs for his working sets? it was an example of how the technique works. Not to mention during the 405bench and other challenges it was stimulating for growth. Now his goal is to maintain. Just because you can bench 405 doesnt mean you have to do it every workout to maintain or increase results. Sharing as much good info as you have recently i thought you would have more of an open mind and understanding about this stuff.

  65. david penwell says:

What hasnt kevin told us about his training? with 10+ years of training at the highest level you cant expect him write all this shit down. he is posting videos as much as he can i am pretty sure he still has a life other than just sitting around posting on this blog all day about his past training secrets

  66. ante says:

    @david penwell – well spoken 100% right

Some supplements can help your workouts, but I’m living proof you can get plenty big without taking a supplement. If a supplement is safe and works for you, go for it – but supplements are not a requirement. – I don’t believe in this.

Now, I expect someone call me hater or disrespectful… That’s just me being honest.

  68. ChefWillC says:

Kevin, this is my first post and I’ve caught up on all your videos in 3 weeks. Thanks for sharing all your info, it has definately been helpful. Keep it up! God bless my friend!

  69. Norweigian says:

Aha…so a champ would react in a curious laid-back and respectfull way when he saw this new video. Thanks man, now i know why i didnt make i to the Olympia. It got nothing to do with my long torso and arms and short legs, it was my arrogant behaviour. One source, infinite wisdome.

  70. chris says:

@ Norweigian, In all honesty even if you did have the genetics you dont show much sign of being able to apply the basics which can be applied thinking outside of the box not just linear, you would probably just bitch about not being placed further up the field without the desire to improve. Fair play on achieveing what you have but looking at your pictures I see you have loads of room for improvement which makes sense. However with your negative attitude I dont expect to see any improvements in the near future.

P.S improvements dont equal higher numbers on the scales.

Coach Dan’s Six Twists have become part of our core training since seeing them a few weeks ago. They are serious stuff and have become known as “Sick Twists” here. Keep it up, its all good Kev.

No problem. I bring this up to several blogs along with screenshots… Enjoy.

  76. Jesse C – Peoria says:

If you saw me you would instantly see I have no chance of ever becoming a stage competitor, but I think Kevin’s point is that a champ is a state of mind or how you approach life according to your abilities and thanks Kevin for saying so, some people don’t get it and never will but we do over at Bradley U. Peace and thanks man.

  77. Jovan says:

I don’t know why you don’t wanna publish my comment, Kevin. There is nothing offending there. Only truth. Or I read defectively blog posts?

  78. Jovan says:

Maybe I misinterpreted those words. Or protein shakes aren’t supplements?

  79. Jovan says:

@david penwell – I am aware of what you are saying, but working out with much lighter weights (no matter of little bit higher reps) will not result in keeping that muscles mass you built by doing serious trainings with serious weights.

It’s like that when you train naturally – I have zero experience when training on steroids. But I know and I meet during years many people who are infected with “iron bug”… I know a little. I watched all this time.

  80. @jovan, I talked about taking whey protein and other supplements in the newsletter and the Nutrition with Kevin videos, as my mass transformation progressed, and in the comment sections and videos. If you want to search the archives for this evidence, you’re more than welcome to, and I invite you to post your findings on the forum.

    @Norwegian,

Whether you’re pursuing the Olympia stage, or trying to stand up from a wheelchair, it requires you to be a “Champion.” I don’t equate “Champion,” with “World Champion Bodybuilder.” Character, attitude and respect are part of my definition of champion.

  81. Jovan says:

I am aware of its off-topic nature, but judging similarly, 90% of all comments made by users are off-topic.

I proved my point. That post isn’t published. We’ll forgot about that.

  82. Richard - Jamaica says:

WTH… @ Jovan :calm down man. You train naturally and are good at it dont have a chip on your shoulder because of it. There are people here who could learn from you. Directing your energy at helping other would be appreciated.
Norweigan: Believe it or not from your reaction to the Haitian disaster you have created ‘enemies’ for life. Some of what you say is plausible and some is questionable. You still in my opinion and i believe in others need to apologize for the comments so you can become a part of the blog again.

Everyone: before shooting down what Levrone is doing please be reminded the goals are his and these activitities assist him in reashing HIS goals.

  83. david penwell says:

@jovan- people say that the lighter weights wont maintain muscle but i am seeing it first hand with kevin that it seems to be working. maybe it doesnt work for everyone but what does work for everyone? there is nothing set in stone when it comes to the human body. we all train, eat, and lives different. i am pretty sure not every single pro bodybuilder follows the same program right? so why are there rules that say that i have to do things a certain way to get results?

  84. @Jovan
Comments get unintentionally screened out all the time and it’s a constant tech burden. The idea that I’m “screening,” your comment surprises me. I’ll try to get it through, and yeah, it is getting brutally off topic and it should be discussed in the forum, not here. But feel free to say whatever you want, always, this is a free and open board.

  85. Jovan says:

@david penwell – How do you know what works for Kevin? You see him doing band presses with 12,5kg dumbells… It’s not training. There is no full transparency in nutrition and supplement program. Don’t tell me what works for someone if I don’t know much about his/her food/supplements/doping regimen.

Getting 200lbs full, hard, cut to the bone requires something. First of all, I don’t see enough of muscle mass for 220lbs heavy man now on Kevin, and I don’t know how it will be 220lbs in a month. I just can’t see those 220lbs + at the moment.

It happened not for the first time that my posts didn’t showed. And, I am not surprised, it is every time when I say something “negative”… Please, don’t insult my intelligence.

I’ve approved much worse comments than yours Jovan. it’s my policy to approve every comment. I have occasionally taken out gratuitous curse words, but I leave the message intact.

Your comments are welcome here regardless of whether they are logical, informed or respectful. I’m not here to censor you, I can only hope, that through leading by example, I can influence you to become a man capable of censoring himself.

  87. Jovan says:

It is O.K. I don’t think anything bad about you, Kevin. You was one of the best bodybuilders while you was active and I have only respect for that.

  88. david penwell says:

@jovan- i think you misunderstood what i said. i didnt say i knew what worked for kevin or what worked for anybody. your the one that said you have to lift a certain way to build and maintain muscle and i said… all bodybuilders dont train on a certain program. we all respond in different ways so what is to say that kevin or anybody “has to” train with super heavy weights and lower reps to build muscle? it is all about what kind of muscle fibers our body is made up of and how we can shock those muscles into growth. you got your comment and my comment backwards…you said thats what has to work for kevin to build and maintain his muscle not me.

  89. there are some great points in this article now to do more research
