If
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knives to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build’em up with worn-out tools.
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss.
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
Rudyard Kipling
wtf
Pretty much a passage that describes the human ability to dig deep and battle. It shows that we battle everyday, at the gym, at home….everywhere.
I like this one; “If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same”
If we’re able to do that, we are ‘lifeproof’.
This is a distinct way in which we can all find inspiration. Sure we could get inspired by fixating our eyes on a video of someone working out, but we can find that anywhere. I am aware that as a community we are always seeking inspiration, and this is exactly what this poem does. Finding inspiration doesn’t always revolve around workout videos or magazines, it can come from anywhere, and with this poem in particular we can apply it to our everyday lives; in or out of the gym.
Norwegian, did you not find the poem inspiring enough? This site offers everyone a chance to be inspired, but after seeing your comment I see that you are not content.
We don’t need negativity within our community it is as simple as that. We don’t need to be going after one another’s throats. If someone is not content with what the TLR has to offer then they shouldn’t frequent the site, after all there are plenty of other sites that offer advice in exchange for a fee, but can the other sites offer you true inspiration, motivation, friendships, a chance to express your ideas with others without being judged, but more importantly a brotherhood: a Family? We all know that we are able to find refuge here at the TLR when we can’t even confide in those around us.

Well, call me an old fashion iron looser, but I look up bodybuilding sites to find som Branch Warren hardcore iron blood swet and guts. Not girly poems.
This blog is stil for core bodybuilders rigth? or am i beginning to miss the continous topics?
Food for thought to feed the malnourished, some will get some won’t because they just do not want to
@frankierb -- right you are man.
I have known some pro’s and what impresses me more than appearance is SPIRIT and it is great to gain insight into it. I think that is the source of everything and its way beyond heaving and humping in the gym. The extent of Gym effort is is merely the output from that source. That is the secret IMO.
There’s nothing wrong with a bit of poetry :-
There once was a man called Norweigian
With genes of the Holstien Friesian
But what good is that?
If you stay looking fat
The bulkin has been for no reason.
nahh…you just full of your little win there Crantch. Anyway, with some clothes on, its not that bad old crantch. And where i come from, we have to wear thick clothes 99,99% of the time.
And when we go to the public indoor poolhouse, well, the average human level of fitness these days makes even me look like Gaspari.
In fact, its so terribel that we`re closing up on the average american…

the’re wantin the ape
but if you got into shape
You’d probably wear out the tool
Yeye Crantchy..anyway, pangloss…dont see why you`re laughing. We never saw your ass in here…here or at the pool.
You know some shit, but you always hide your ass behind those words of wisdom.
You came in late, but got some respect. But stil, a little Eastwood avartar backs up all your smartass verbal behaviour.
lol

Norway, Im only being silly again, I hope you realise that. Though I still think, when your ready you should diet, by that I mean a loss of 30+lbs. Then you will KNOW the contrast of the two and if you never try you remain ignorant. You only live once.
