NFL Combine • Squat Jumps

Don’t tell all your secrets. You feel like talking about your secrets, don’t disclose ALL of them.

Once you unload your chambers, everyone’s gonna know what you’re firing out of that gun. Keep the chamber locked and loaded baby. Even in a family like ours, every man has secrets.

Who’s first in the TLR Brotherhood to disclose his secrets? It takes a man. Right?

One of my secrets: whenever I fly on an airplane I never sit in one position. I walk back and forth, stretch, check out the bathroom, the WHOLE FLIGHT I’m moving. That stopped my body from retaining fluid. It kept my blood circulating. The guys I’m going up against are sitting there in the same position, sleeping. By them sleeping their body’s gonna swell up. The altitude fills you up with fluid, especially if you have low body fat.

Remember you heard it on TLR first. Thats OUR secret, the TLR secret. Who has other secrets?

Check out this squat jump video. Sore 4 days. Peace

NFL Combine Transformation • Bench 225/30 Rep Workout

With all this talk of the future, we still have to keep our eyes on current goals. The NFL Combine needs to end with victory across the board, and that means an improvement on the 225 bench for reps.

Today I tried something different – several sets in a row with very quick rest periods in between. This will force me to recruit as many fibers as possible and also help my body learn to buffer accumulating lactate, so that when I finally get down for that bench test, I won’t burn out as easily.

In a normal powerlifting situation, I would go for 2-3 minutes rest minimum, and that would be fine for adding size and strength for a max rep.

Right now the focus is more on endurance, that extended time period of near maximal effort required by the 225 lb combine test. By lowering my rest between sets to 15-25 seconds, hopefully my body will get the message.

4×4 bench is still being used to build overall strength, but incorporating 5-rep sets with short rest periods every third workout will round out the picture in preparing my body for the test.

We all have dreams and goals. Long-term and short-term. It’s okay to dream big, but not at the expense of the current battles we’re facing today. See all your battles through so that you can clean the slate for new battles ahead. Never leave unfinished business. Finishing what you start, great or small…is the way of the champion.

Please read the most recent edition of Levrone Insider: A Warrior Does Not Wait.

Thank you for your thoughtful comments and support regarding my announcement that I am considering a return to the stage. I have read every comment on TLR, Youtube, Facebook and forums on other sites, including RxMuscle.com, Bodybuilding.com and many more. Make no mistake – I am listening.

TLR: Brotherhood, Strength and…Competing Again?

Guys, I’ve been training hard for Combine because that’s coming to a close is a few short weeks. I have been doing something a little different for bench and I’ll have a video up next time to show you what that’s about.

Cabcutta’s arrest last week is fading into history but it spurred a lot of things in me, and this is where I stand. I am reviewing my life and my goals. I always told you there’s no telling where the endless transformation may lead, and that we’re in this together. It’s more true today than ever.

Check out this video to see where I stand today, and know that who I am at this moment has a lot to do with you, and the strength this community has given me. Also, thanks to Raul Cruz for producing the montage at the end of this video. It is but a small representation of the great people who frequent this blog and forum, and I know it was meant to honor all of us.

The Official Kevin Levrone Calf Workout

Okay, so here’s the deal, we got till the end of Summer, September 21st, about four more weeks, till we take the Combine tests. I KNOW my scores are going to improve. And I hope yours do, too.

If your scores improve, it means you’ve been moving. Working the legs and calves, getting conditioned and going to battle, just like me. Speaking of calves, check out the official calf workout below. Do it. It WORKS.

And speaking of going to battle…I came across Cabcutta’s forum post about GETTING ARRESTED over an argument involving yours truly. Here’s what’s up: some guy at the gym starts bad-talkin’ Kevin Levrone and Cab takes issue with it. It turns into an all-out gym brawl, and dozens get arrested…including Cabcutta.

While I don’t espouse violence, I have to acknowledge Cabcutta’s loyalty. Thanks man, for getting my back, it means a lot to me. For now on, reserve violence for when someone assaults you or your family, or an innocent bystander, or if you’re joining the armed forces in your country (like Penwell, USMC, Godspeed brother!), then do what you have to do. Until then, stay cool. You can read about CABCUTTA’S STAND here.

While we’re on the subject of Cabcutta, he did a video capturing a long outdoor workout that inspired the hell out of me. The videos of this community inspire me as much as my videos inspire you. So get your videos up on the forum. Cabcutta’s video.

The last entry got over a hundred comments. If you have opinions, continue them on forum where they can flourish and grow. Sky’s the limit on the forum. Recently Kenbo asked about corruption in the IFBB. I answered as best I could and the conversation continues.

And now for our feature presentation: calves.

LR Guest Host August 20th: Hollander

On February 14th Hollander answered forum leader Rick’s call for the community to post more pics and videos. Since that day Hollander has amassed 21 solid pages of videos and comments on his personal training, and has 1161 posts to date, the third most on the forum, behind only Cabcutta (1703) and Rick (1596).

Hollander’s videos boast tremendous production value and his programs are bold and direct – he has a penchant for dead lifts, squats, bench, chins – the meat and potatoes, the simple, powerful approach that builds champions and we all have to respect that. He is not afraid of heavy weight or heavy cardio, but he’s also not afraid of devising very precise and intricate programs, and he’s quick to try new things like testing for the NFL Combine.

The Guest Host video below is a prime example, and his commentary at the beginning puts it well – we train so we can live a better life, whether you’re 20, 40 or 60 years old. At around 40 Hollander is visualizing a fit body at 60, and visualization is what it takes to be fit for life.

Hollander is a father of 2 young children, and a leader. He’s the kind of guy that never settles for doing things half way, and he kindly and gently inspires those around him to do the same. That is the way of the champion. On behalf of myself and the LR family, thanks Hollander for continuing to inspire all of us.

NFL Combine Transformation • Jogging/Pushups

To be a complete athlete you have to have cardio endurance and low body fat. That’s what this post is about. A lot of you have questions about cardio, why, when, how, etc. This post, like the last one about nutrition, should simplify things for you and get you on the right track.

After long cardio sessions I like to blow it out with some other exercise. Put in that extra something that separates the ordinary from the champions in this world. That reminder to yourself that there are no limits.

Look for opportunities to go above and beyond, look for ways to remove mediocrity from training EVERY day. Go off the beaten path and express your own desire for greatness. This freedom is yours, use it. That is the way of the champion.

The community inspires me transcend mediocrity, so thanks for your friendship. Post a video that expresses YOUR unique mental challenges that let the world know that you, too, are ready to make your own name.

Nutritional Advice – Keep It Simple

I’ve been training hard and I know you have been, too. Your posts and videos on the forum, your comments, the messages on Facebook and Twitter, are what keep me going.

For this post I want to go over nutrition. If we could hang out and have lunch face to face, this is the kind of stuff I’d be saying to you – the simple truths, many of which we all know but seldom apply.

A lot of times people want something more complicated, some magic formula or secret method. At high levels, it gets pretty precise, but the majority of nutrition is simple, and most of us can get away with a simple approach.

Watch this video, listen to the basics of what I’m saying. Then here’s the hard part: EXECUTE IT. High protein, medium carb, low fat, clean sources for all three, train in the gym, and you will see results. It really is that simple.

If you want more custom answers for your body type and goals, post a video on the Nutrition By Kevin youtube page, tell me everything I need to know, and then alert me to the fact with a PM on the forum. I will check it out and give you an answer.

We now have nine outstanding retailers carrying (or about to carry) Levrone Formula. Each were handpicked for service and integrity.

Levrone Shoulder Routine

A lot of you have asked whether I still train other body parts besides chest, legs and core during this NFL Combine transformation. The answer is YES. To maintain overall balance and strength we have to hit all our muscles, and that includes shoulders.

Here’s the standard Levrone shoulder routine. This is the basic routine made up of four exercises that will hit all three heads of the shoulders. Notice the order of the routine, the reps and sets, and the details in the form I use.

Try this for your next shoulder workout. Do it with the form and intensity of a champion, with TLR in mind, and I promise this routine will not let you down. With consistency and dedication, you WILL achieve your potential for round, wide, huge shoulder muscles.

For a more detailed look at my shoulder approach, check out the upcoming October issue of Flex Magazine. In an article featuring my shoulder approach, I was sure to mention TLR – because for me, the real secret behind all my workouts is right here. The team that pushes me forward beyond exhaustion. The brotherhood that inspires me to smash through all obstacles. Bang out some shoulders this week Full Blown-style and let us all know what’s up.

Peace, Kevin

Pre-Workout Posing, Locked And Loaded

Just like you, I often take time to study my physique and see where I’m at. Right now, during the Combine Training, I’m focusing more on performance and less on bodybuilding.

However, I think I’m holding up damn well at a solid 218 lbs, as you can see in these videos – taken just before my cardio workout earlier today, about 12 minutes after pounding Levrone Formula, feeling pumped, warm, locked and loaded.

Remember, “every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.” – Michelangelo

For you and me, looking in the mirror is not about vanity. Your body is the clay and you are the sculptor. Be aware of your body from all angles and keep an eye on your weight. Visualize your goal and move toward it relentlessly.

Combine training is not about adding mass. It’s also not about cutting myself to the bone. It’s a combination of strength and body composition for optimum power and agility on the field. Having the energy to do explosive high impact training, strength to bang out 225 lbs 30 times, and a body weight that allows you to explode into the air and conquer gravity.

I’m enjoying the versatile physique I’m developing, but I also know that it’s just one more phase in my endless transformation, and there’s no telling where it will wind up. The only thing certain is that we’re in this together.

Peace, Kevin

BULLETIN: Levrone Formula just earned a Featured Product slot on Bodybuilding.com due to unexpected performance for such a new product. Must be the word of mouth and the fact that it actually WORKS better than the big guys’ products. Thanks to TLR community for getting my back and spreading the word. Kevin

Combine Training • Jumping Up Steps

I’m enjoying doing things that bodybuilders don’t normally do. Like seven sets of frog jumps up giant steps on the shores of Lake Michigan.

I will be back in the gym tackling the iron in days to come. But I have to push myself to the limit on the jumping exercises if I’m going to have that explosive power in the Combine tests to come.

As always, it’s the community that pushes me well past my comfort zone every time. Check it out.

Peace, Kev

Thanks again to everyone who showed up on such short notice (a few hours) yesterday at World Gym on Montrose in Chicago, and at GNC. Met a lot of great people, and everyone got an autograph and a free sample of Levrone Formula. I want to do a lot more of that – it’s great to connect in person. Photo below.
